Fuser Failure Message
Step 1
Turn the Printer's Power Off and On
Solution: Removing any Jams from the Exit Area

Jam at Exit

  1. Remove any jammed paper at the output tray.
  2. Step 1

  3. Open the top cover.
  4. Step 2

  5. Inspect inside the printer for any jammed paper and remove.
  6. Open the rear access cover.
  7. Step 3

  8. Remove any jammed paper from the rear transport rollers.
  9. Step 4

  10. Close the rear access cover.
  11. Step 5

  12. Close the top cover.
  13. Step 6

Solution: Reseat the Fuser

  1. Power the printer off, and unplug the power cord.
  2. power off


        The fuser is hot. To avoid personal injury, allow a minimum of 30 minutes for it to cool down before proceeding.

    30 minute cool down


  3. Open the rear access cover by pulling it downward.
  4. open rear

  5. Unfasten the white strap from the left side of the printer and remove the bottom of the strap from the rear access cover. The top of the strap will stay attached to the printer.
  6. release strap

  7. Remove the rear access cover by lifting up the right side of the cover, then sliding the cover to the right.
  8. remove access cover

  9. Loosen and remove the screws that hold the fuser in place.
  10. remove screws

  11. Slide the fuser out of the printer.
  12. remove fuser

  13. Gently slide the fuser back into the printer. Make sure that the fuser bolts are in line with the tracks in the printer, and that the cord is not stuck on the side the fuser.
  14. install fuser

  15. Tighten the screws that hold the fuser in place.
  16. install screws

  17. Attach the rear access cover by sliding the right side into place, and then securing the left side.
  18. install rear access cover

  • Secure the white strap back in place by sliding it through the plastic holdings and securing it onto the tab on the rear access cover.
  • attach straps

  • Close the rear access cover.
  • close rear cover

  • Plug the printer in, and power it back on.
  • Power on

    Solution: Replace the Fuser

    Replacing the Fuser

    1. Power the printer off, and unplug the power cord.

    13. Discard the old fuser in the trash, or recycle it. For information on recycling, visit www.xerox.com/office/recycle.
    14. Gently slide the new fuser into the printer. Make sure that the fuser bolts are in line with the tracks in the printer, and that the cord is not stuck on the side the fuser.
    15. install fuser

    16. Tighten the screws that hold the fuser in place.

    18. Attach the rear access cover by sliding the right side into place, and then securing the left side.

  • Plug the printer in, and power it back on.
  • Power on

    To order a fuser in the U.S. and Canada note the following part number 126E02480 (110V) and call 1-800-835-6100; at the first prompt press 9, at the second prompt press 3. The part number for a 220 Volt fuser is 126E02490.
